PERCY CLARENCE CARDALL (1896 -1914)
K22027, Stoker 2 Class, Royal Navy
HMS Monmouth

Percy Clarence Cardall (mistakenly referred to as Charles Percy Cardell) was born in September 1896, the third son of Joseph Charles Cardall and Elizabeth Lucas of 46 Summer Lane, Birmingham.

Before enlisting he was a plumber. On his enlistment in February 1914 he lied about his age, giving his dead older brother's birth year and also using his name which he gave as Charles. His first posting was HMS Vivid II at Plymouth, he went to HMS Monmouth in July.

It was recorded that his name was corrected posthumously "by relatives" to "full name Charles Percy", but as explained above that is not correct.
